Michelman Production Planner in Cincinnati, Ohio
We have a great opportunity available for a Production Planner to join our Logistics team at our global headquarters in Cincinnati, OH. In this role, you will be responsible for covering a wide area of activity within Michelman. You will be responsible for all aspects of Americas manufacturing and production scheduling as well as managing the raw material planning requirements. This role will report to the Supply Chain Director.
Manage production planning and scheduling using the Infor model for optimization, in conjunction with JD Edwards (JDE). Make daily updates to:
72-hour firm schedule by hour and day
Two week planning schedule by hour and day
Manage communication of schedules and schedule changes to the production team for action
Lead daily integration meetings with production supervision on needs and requirements
MRP for specified raw materials
Update all JDE MRP planning parameters, JDE product routing parameters, and JDE capacity requirements (cycle times) for each product so they are accurate and current
Monitor data interfaces between JDE, Shop Floor Control Systems (i.e.: Wonder Ware and future advanced manufacturing interfaces), and Infor Advanced Scheduling for timeliness and accuracy. Initiate immediate corrective action when issues arise
Ownership of setting safety stock levels to meet the OTIF business targets for both finished goods and raw materials
Answer Customer Service inquiries for expected production and delivery dates
Backup production scheduler for Shell Road facility, including extrusion unit
Critical Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong troubleshooting skills to understand requirements planning
Customer intimacy mindset
High levels of sense of urgency
Experience with planning and inventory control techniques
Ability to clearly communicate verbally or through e-mail
Strong computer literacy skills including advanced Excel knowledge
Strong attention to detail and organization skills
Experience in chemical manufacturing or planning
Experience with using JD Edwards in a chemical process industry and Infor Advanced Scheduling software is a plus
Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or formal Continuous Improvement experience is a plus
Project Management experience
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED required; Associates Degree or higher a plus
Minimum of 5 years of experience in production planning
